The Explorer Program has been operated by J. Garnons Williams Ltd. since August, 2006. This exciting, often fast paced program runs from 9-3 Monday to Friday, with the capacity to support up to 15 participants daily. Participants at Explorer are looking for a place where they can be met at their level, and through supported programming from staff and other participants, have opportunities to shine and grow to further their individual development. The individuals who attend the program are very independent and are excellent self-advocates. Gainful employment, volunteering and education are important to individuals as well as being fully integrated in their community.

Each month, based on what participants want to do, a calendar of events is developed and sent home with participants and posted on our website.  The program is busy – each day there are community based and in house activities to choose from, including: hiking, nature walks, swimming, crafts, games, horseback riding, volunteering in the community, singing/music and much more.

With support from families, caregivers and staff, an environment where everyone has the opportunity to grow, have fun and enjoy lasting friendships has been created.

Referrals to the Explorer Program are initiated through the Nanaimo CLBC office. Their phone number is 250-390-7200.
